Portfolio highlights
Sea Embraces All Rivers
A large-scale stainless steel sculpture exhibited in the 2024 “Light of Eastern Fujian” Invitational Exhibition.
The work reflects openness, inclusiveness, and the dynamic relationship between individual identity and collective culture.
Portrait of Pope Francis
Among Xiaowen Chen’s portrait works, his sculpture of Pope Francis holds special significance.
The completion of the sculpture led to a personal invitation for Xiaowen Chen to meet Pope Francis and present the work in person at the Vatican. Pope Francis expressed his appreciation for the interpretation and personally signed the back of the original work. The experience remains one of the defining milestones of Chen’s career and reflects his belief that portrait sculpture can transcend cultural and religious boundaries, creating a dialogue through shared human values, compassion, and understanding.
Joy of Family Union
One of Chen’s most internationally recognized works.
Inspired by principles from the I Ching, the sculpture explores harmony between complementary forces through the symbolic relationship of water and fire. The work represents dialogue, balance, and mutual growth between cultures, individuals, and civilizations.
Collected by an international luxury hospitality property in Portugal.
The Thinker Series
A contemporary reinterpretation of reflection and consciousness.
Using imagery inspired by roots, mountains, clouds, and organic growth, the series explores the relationship between human thought and the natural world.
Destination of Life Series
Created using reclaimed natural materials such as roots, stones, metal fragments, and weathered objects.
The series examines transformation, memory, sustainability, and the continuous cycle of life.
